ex-Sen. John Edwards - a Democrat (who, by the way, indeed did run for the Presidency) has been indicted on felony charges stemming of his misuse of campaign funds ...

Yep. How about that Republican hypocrisy? The fact that a Democrat does it too in absolutely no way justifies Republicans or protects them. They ALL need to be called out on it. The "everybody's doing it so I should be able to do it, too" defense doesn't work when my 11 year old tries it on me and and it's not going to work when you use it here, z.

Wrong assumption on your part. :tisk:

I am not justifying it for ANYBODY ... what you did not get was my point: thinking that this is a common Republican thing only is pathetically silly.

You will never hear the Democrats go after their own. Party over Country.

Ever hear Democrats calling for the resignation of other Democrats? Yeah, me neither.

Indeed! :yesnod

When I lived in Massachusetts years ago, I often had people tell me that they would "vote Democrat" even if they thought the Democrat candidate was worse than the Republican one.

Short-sighted thinking, IMHO.

Yes, I am registered as Republican, but if I felt that the Democrat candidate was a better choice for a particular office, then I would vote for him/her for sure.

Well now that you mention it, Gary Hart pretty much got disowned by the Democrats while he was seeking the Democratic presidential nomination when his extramarital affair with Donna Rice was outed.

Texas is full of that. Several People Vote Republican even if the Democratic Candidate was clearly the better choice. A lot of Straight ticket Republicans in this state. People are short sighted on both sides of the aisle. In fact, Ive even met several people who have no idea who rick perry (our governor) is, they will ask if he is republican. And then proceed to tell me what a great job they think he is doing, but have no idea what he has done or has been trying to do. Im sure I could find democrats who do the same in their state

Last I heard, the Edwards case might get dropped.

I don't see much support for Edwards from anywhere.

"Hypocrisy?" I do not think it means what you think it means. I don't hear Democrats attacking John Ensign, either. Do you hear them calling for anybody's resignation? Yeah, me neither.

Seriously, fellas, what was John Edwards supposed to resign from? He hasn't been a Senator since 2005. Would you be satisfied if the Democrats went back in time and condemned behavior that they found out about 5 or 6 years later?

No, I get it. BSABSVR.

Right ... take one word jokingly mentioned in the thread title (did you the miss the smiley?) and not at all in my post, and base your response on that - including insulting me about whether I know the meaning of the word.

You missed my point entirely, of course.

And, by the way, you have probably also forgotten that back then, I actually mentioned Edwards as a candidate that I thought would make a good President and was considering voting for him.

(Horrors! a Republican - me - thinking that he would vote for a Democrat candidate!! :ohno: :chuckle:)
