It really doesn't depend on miles, it depends on how well the motor was maintained and or driven. Just boost it, if it pops replace it. KA's are still cheap.

so think the extra 30000 KM on the engine is worth upgrading to the DOHC?

Everything is relevent to the static compression the motor has prior to boost. If the compression is good and the motor has been takin care of then your all set. The KA is built very well. From the stud girdle to the rods. The pistons are a tad on the weak side for big boost, but are more then ok for 1 bar and this has been done quite a few times.

If tuned correctly you'll have a ton of fun for quite a long time to come. If you have the KA24E at the moment, Then I'd start with that motor. I like the ignition system on the E model more then the DE. It lends itself to upgrade alot easier as well.

Till you hit 400whp you won't need to worry about a cam swap anyway.

The 240 248 cam swap on the s14 DE-t is worth 25whp. My friend Jeff (brage) at az240sx.org has the dyno sheet to prove it.

For 350 bucks you can get a set of regrinds done to any spec you want. Not a bad deal at all.

yep thats me. still goin strong *knock on wood*

How I fell in love with the KA:

When I bought the car, I had NO intention of keeping the motor. Just like everyone else, I was mesmorized by the thought of getting an SR. Knowing the motor already had 195k on it, I decided to torture it. For the next couple months, I was constantly bouncing off the rev limiter and I did donuts with it at least 3-4 times a week, i mean just beating the piss out of the poor thing, and it kept coming back for more. It survived several overheating incidents with no long-term ill effects too. It was then that I knew that we'd spent the rest of our lives togehter...well, at least until I can get this thing to blow up
