I have a friend who is interested in doing some of this interior and exterior retro-look for a modern Mini ...

My wood doesn't need an add-on, but hey, I hope someone has a good answer for you. ;)

I always lol when I see people doing wood tones to get the "Retro 50's look" but the look was retro in the 50's reaching back to the Model T days.

Good point. :yesnod

When I saw the pictures of the Mini at that link, it did seem like it would look decent on that car more than other new models currently on the market. Although I wouldn't consider doing it myself - not my style - I can see where somebody might like it.

Get a piece that you want wood, remove it, and wrap it in veneer. The piece has to be pretty flat (think cylinder, not ball) because wood doesn't stretch.

Now there is an interesting suggestion! Only problem is that the person asking this is a Mom with no expertise and little time to do this herself. :) But, I will pass the info along.

Anyway, she has not had any luck tracking down a source to get this done - the link I posted is apparently in Italy and that would be too far away for any rational way to get them to do it.

Thanks!

I would TOTALLY go for the wood look on a 80s GM wagon. <3.

My parents had one of these for a while, great car. One of the last good GMs imo. LT1 anyone?

Not for me at all, I agree. :yesnod

But, I can see where somebody might like it ... just to be different. :) The Mini is about the only modern car that you could pull this off and not have it look too strange, I suspect.
