Hey all,
I recently replaced the lifter bucket for the HPFP in my 2011 M56 which had a large hole in the bottom. I also recently opened the cam cover underneath and found the broken piece. However, when removing the original bucket, it was very difficult and was stuck in the hole. After extracting the first bucket, i installed the new bucket from the dealer and thought that the fit was too tight, even with oil and the hole looking spotless, but i just figured thats how it has to be. After turning the car on and driving it maybe less than 10 miles, i opened the HPFP and the bucket was broken again, and im not really sure why it broke so quickly, any help is greatly appreciated.

So what can you do?
The most basic resolution is to replace the bucket and keep driving.
- it's cheap and carries no extra risk beyond what has already happened, so you could try it.
- historically, this does not seem to last, as the new bucket usually develops a hole soon after installation.

The reason for the new buckets failing is that ...
