Hey,

I'm looking for mods that will increase power. So far I have the K&N intake and I'm looking at the racingline y-pipe and Greddy Ti-C catback. Any other mods that will increase or free up HP? Pulleys maybe?

You seem to have multiple threads about similar things. Try to condense or add to existing posts if possible please.

To answer your question, bolt ons will net you negligible differences. Depending on if you want to stay na or go turbo would depend on the mods you do. Cam shafts and uprev for na would be some high performance gains. Turbo would be biggest gains obviously, but only if your transmission is the mt. Wouldn't suggest it with the CVT.

No, turbo isn't gonna work. I don't want to void my warranty, not yet anyways. Thanks for the advice, I'll check out uprev online. Btw, how do you like your Greddy?

My GReddy SE sounds amazing with my y-pipe. I love it. Gives me the tone I was looking for. Low and aggressive. The Ti-C was too loud for my taste. I like to be discretely sporty, and not attract too much attention from the law. The only draw back is that in the effort to give it good flow, it's really low to the ground with my coil overs. Drags on speed bumps and I'm not even that low.

You may just want to look at the BullyDog GT Tuner. That'll help out a bit. Then you're pretty much done. Shed some weight in the car (if you're carrying around anything heavy in the trunk or back seat). Lighter wheels etc.

Any kind of tune will most definitely void the warranty. You're pretty much done dude. Get a light weight pulley and that's about it.

A tune will void my warranty? really? bummer, i guess that's out of the picture. Ya, I'm starting to lean towards the Spectrum, I like the Ti-C but I read everywhere that it can be a little loud and I don't need the extra attention from the fuzz.

I started a different thread yesterday about adding a y-pipe on a stock exhaust. Here's a vid I found:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbSXm76hDk4

Personally, I think it sounds awful. Would my ride sound like this if I bought just the y-pipe? Might wait till the spring to buy the catback.

And another noobie question, what kind of labour am I looking at when installing a light-weight pulley? I'm no mechanic and I'd like an idea of how long it should take so I can make sure the shop isn't overcharging me.

Not the case - an UpRev Osiris tune includes a factory ECU map that you can flash back to, which is not detectable by Nissan's CONSULT III. It's one of those "what momma doesn't know won't hurt her" scenarios. :bigthumb:

That's what I was told at the dealership. If you don't mind resetting your ECU to stock every time you visit the dealership then by all means go for it. I have the Ti-C and honestly I've never been pulled over for it's sound. Compared to the Z's and G's I roll with, the Ti-C is a little baby lol. Stock exhaust is awful so yeah the Y-Pipe won't help you there.

Labor for the pulley shouldn't be more than a $100. Thanks, and yeah it's Crimson Black.

I'm trying to calculate what the total expenses (taxes and shipping included) will be for these mods:

Exhaust - $1300
y-pipe - $350
pulley - $200

As for labour, I'm guessing a couple hours (90/hour) which means about 180?

Total for everything: $2030.00

Does that sound right?

I got my Greddy Ti-C for $1200 and had to wait 38 days for it.

You'd most likely need a tune to get anything significant out of your bolt ons. Trying to get more power out of your car while retaining the warranty is very difficult.

Your setup will probably sound good though.

Unfortunately not man. I had sold that particular exhaust off my Altima when I had it. If you can find one of the SE or TiC exhausts, they're absolutely top notch. Greddy is currently revamping their lineup so it will be a bit before they trickle back into retail availability again.

Ah well, it was worth a try, thanks anyways. A shop here is offering a Ti-C for 1344.00 taxes included. Now I have to convince myself that this is a good investement. I can always keep my stock exhaust in storage in case something happens to the Greddy right? I have my stock intake in storage just in case.

Is that the price they offered you including installation?

I always kepts my stock parts. Came in handy when I decided to sell the car - I had a big part out and it helped with the transition cost to my Mazda.

They haven't quoted me yet. I'm estimating the 2 hours to install everything.

Just ordered the Stillen Crank Pulley. I'm a little nervous about this purchase, the sales rep at Stillen said the part has a 1 year warranty. I did my research before buying the part and most of the comments were positive in terms of gains and reliability. Has anyone run into trouble with this part?

It's awesome.

Ypipe, pulley and Tune are going to net you the most noticeable gains. I have yet to hear or see an aftermarket exhaust that provided more than 5hp max. The cat back is more for look and sound in reality.

The pulley doesn't really add any power either but because it's rotating mass it'll help the car to rev up faster. If your CVT you probably won't even notice the pulley though

I'm all for picking up a y-pipe (without an aftermarket cat-back) but I don't want to install it if my car will end up sounding like the ride in the vid I posted at the top of this thread.

sound is really hard to get fully on a camera. And even then the position of the camera is critical. If too close the sounds will overload the mic and distort the sound.

For the most part the sound from the Ypipe is very close to stock. It adds a little rasp but it's mostly only heard at higher RPM's and it's not as bad as the video depicts. While driving normally you'll barely hear the difference over stock

Go with y-pipe/catback combo. If sound AND power is what you want, I'd start with that. My butt dyno tells me my car is faster than a Ferrari, though reality watched me get schooled by a California a couple days ago...

So I had the crank pulley installed yesterday and I gotta say, not too impressed especially after dropping $500. I understand the pulley wont net any considerable gains (1-2 hp) but from what I've read online and from other Nico membes comments, the pulley is supposed to show some improvement in terms or acceleration but I haven't noticed any difference anywhere. Does the pulley need time to adjust for these improvements to show?

In reality its supposed to be lighter. That's where it almost feels like the car accelerates a bit faster from a stop.
Now with that said it might not feel much of a difference since the pulley is lighter but not for hp gains. Think of it as taking off a few pounds off the car

The BD tuner is the easiest and cheapest solution for quick hp that you can flash on and off while UpRev is the best.

As for the pulley, it's a lot lighter than the cast iron stock one. But you say you spent $500 on the pulley + install? If so, you got raped!

They charged me an hours worth of work for the install ($120) and 300 for the part so 420 total. It's still a lot of money for something so insignificant, could've just taken my spare tire out of the trunk and I wouldve saved all that cash and my car would way less than it does now with the stilln pulley.

Wait, what pulley did you buy? I paid like $180 for mine I think.
