I've got the stage 2 cams, as well as some other work. NA they feel strong, but I think they will feel much better when the intake manifold gets opened up, and the ecu gets reflashed (I'm going JWT ecu, and hopefully DJpants' intake design, once he gets it finished).Right now though, it uses up more gas than stock (surprise!..).

would u recommend them for a n/a?? Aren't the stage 2's suposed to be for forced induction motors? And about how much hp do u think u gained?? Real interested in getting some!

The basic rule of thumb is that every bump of 1:1 in compression will yeild about 12 hp. So, a motor with 9.5:1 and 150 hp will have about 162 hp if the compression is raised to 10.5:1

^^ I thought we were 155 stock... I also thought that SOHC pistons bumped us to 11:1 compression.

Can anyone confirm if my information is incorrect or not?

the SOHC out of the '90 do bump the compression in the DE motors to 11:1

I believe the pistions out of the '89 SOHC had a different profile to them, and bumps the compression to 11.7:1

Also, from what i have read, it seems they are good for about 30 CHP when swapped into a DE

can anyone confirm what year piston will fit into our motor, and will it really add 30chp??, also would it be safe to run sohc pistons in a dohc as a daily driver, im also gonna be running crower v2 cams, and a couple other mods.

I just picked those numbers out of the blue. But, now that I look at them I do realize how my post would be confusing since they are very close to our cars. The DOHC does have 9.5:1 compression and 155 hp.

If the general rule of "12" does apply in our motor, then you can figure about:

14hp (Arias 10.7:1)19hp ('90 SOHC)26hp ('89 SOHC)

Cool, now... for my own reference, can any one tell me the compression ratio limit on 93 octane pump gas?

Check out some threads by DjPantsSpecR and read them well. You might just save a good amount of money.
