Is there a significant increase in HP power on the 02-05 Q's from my '96 Q?

Or was the ratings on the early Q's just very conservative?

62 HP on paper, probobly closer to 40 HP in reality-the newer one is faster accelerating, mostly due to 5 speed transmission and overall gearing

The 96 Q was the weak sister of the 90-96 series, so that might be overrated.Because the 90-95 were OBDI, Nissan left lots of safety in ecu programming to enhance longevity...............why the ecu reprograms can get an extra 30 HP and 30 lb/ft.

It appears that the stock 90-93 produced 10-15 more lb/ft than published depending on btu of fuel used............say 302-307 lb/ft flywheel. The HP might have been as high as 285 stock.

while the 96 lacked VVT,it made up for it in the much more powerful computing control of obd2,allowing better, tighter control over powertrain-a wash as far as power goes-remember we have the fastest quarter mile time here on the boards for a STOCK 90-96q performed by Fastlane in his 1996Q 15.36 seconds!

Most of the ecu moded [JWT/Dinan/Nico] early Q will get down to 14.8/96-97 mph if the engine and transmission is decent [with oem soft fast wearing tires] [no 400 need apply]. 7300 redline allows 98-100 mph in 2nd gear just before rev limiter shut down.

The bulk of the GOOD 96 stock I've driven were way behind the 94-95 which due to transmission were behind the 90-93.

But what's a 1/2 second anyway.

The new 5AT and gearing is the bulk of the increased performance not the perceieved diffferences in engines [90-96] vs [2002>].
