A new shop opened up here and they are having a dyno day on Saturday. $60 will get you 2 pulls w/ wideband and also a quarter mile pull, so I figure, what the hell?

Best way to tell if you have a healthy motor is to dyno it right? So I want to know what kind of numbers I should expect with my current modification status. Here is the list.....

CA18DET.... duhStock turboStock ECUStock MAFStock InjectorsStock CatStock ExhaustGReddy VSPL Front mount intercoolerGReddy hotpipeHeavy Throttle 3 inch downpipeShimmed wastegate.... running almost 12 poundsNGK BCPR6ES-11'sNew o2 sensorWalbro 255lph Fuel PumpZ32 Fuel Filter94 Octane15 degrees of timing2 inch hardpipe intake arm from MAF to turboCrap *** Cone Filter

This will be measured on a dynojet, so I guess the numbers will be a bit more accurate. What approximate numbers should I be laying down to the wheels? I'm kinda excited about this... I am popping my dyno cherry this weekend :) If anyone is in the Cincy area this weekend, shoot me an email, we can go over together then.

This is a little off topic, but... I see you have a Heavy Throttle downpipie. Is it a modified SR downpipe or did they actually make one for the CA? I have read that SR downpipes will work with some modification, but nobody ever says what that "modification" is.

It's actually a modded SR pipe.

You can get CA downpipes from Australia or the UK, but after shipping and import taxes, it is cheaper, easier, and quicker just to make your own. Here is what I did.....

1) Order your SR downpipe.... any brand, its up to you. Originally I ordered the mild steel one from Heavy Throttle for 130 dollars. They were out of them, so I got the stainless for the same price... BANGIN!

2) When it comes in, take the flange that mounts to the turbo elbow (the one with 3 holes) and carefully dremel out the weld to seperate the flange from the pipe. The HT one had a bevel in the flange that allowed the pipe to slip in so it made the next step a WHOLE lot easier.

3) Get under your car, bolt up the 3 hole flange to the turbo outlet. Then line up the pipe with the cat and hanger. Once this is all lined up, you can then see where you need to make your marks on the flange. Just mark the flange where it needs to be rewelded and take it all down.

4) Give your downpipe and a 6 pack of Corona to your welding buddy and tell him to have at it.

5) Bolt it all back up! It's done!

Basically, the top flange just needs to be rotated about 1/4 turn.

HTH

Thanks for the info Joe. I'd heard you had to rotate the flange, but nothing was ever explained so clearly as you just did.

Didn't go..... had to stay late at work, but it was worth it, I fired someone :)

But the normal price is like 90 an hour, so I might get a few guys together and see if they can get a group rate together or something.

ouch, they're proud of that aren't they? Glad to know that ruining a person's life made your day. JK! I KNOW that if I had a job where I could fire, people, I'd be the only one working there! Hehehe.
