Well, I guess like any other rwd car. You'll probably need snow tires. I use Blizzaks on my G50. The reason I use the snow tires is because I have a weekend house in the Poconos and the combo of snow and hills make it a requirement to have some help with traction. If you live in a flat area that they are very good about plowing, I'd just stick to the all seasons. For the 11 years I had the Q, I've used snow tires for 3 years. Oh, and keep a full tank of gas to put more weight on the drive wheels.

The keys to driving a RWD car in the snow is tires and drivers patience/skill. You can buy the tires ...

Its different than a FWD car, but honestly i dont prefer FWD over RWD.. If you know what your doing, its not gonna be any worse... The reason that FWD cars can get away with using all seasons vs RWD cars needing snow tires is because theres more weight over the drive wheels..... It scares the crap out of me when driving a FWD car and you turn the wheel and it just keeps going straight.. you can throttle steer a little bit in RWD to help, with FWD you can... I prefer being able to do that!

If you put a couple bags of sand in the back, you will do just as good as any FWD car with similar tires and ground clearance.....

Get snow tires!

I tried it out with 2 snow storms last winter only running on Kuhmo ASXs (with plenty of tread), got stuck several times. First snowfall I couldnt leave my damn driveway. The Limited Slip helps, but you need snow tires to get the proper traction.

Yea Wes, you probably haven't had an issue getting stuck because Indiana is flat. Here, where we have hills. Going up them is a problem. I've even gotten stuck once on a hill I was going up with the Blizzacks. TCS is useless for this. I finally got out when the transmission when in fail safe mode from spinning tires too much. In fail safe, it stayed in 3rd gear and gave me the traction I needed. When I restarted the Q, the transmission reset and worked normally.

very good point, and we probably dont get the same accumulation as you guys do either... Very rarely is there more than 6-8 inches on the road or 12 inches on the ground.

Agreed! But I think you meant "cheap set of wheels with some snow tires."

Yea I have my tubines for the winter tires and I have y33 16in which I use in the summer. Much better this way. You don't have to pay the tire guy to mount tires twice a year if you have a spare set of rims.

Yup!

That is what I did for my RX-7 when I lived in New Hampshire. Aluminum wheels for the normal tires, and a set of cheap steel OEM wheels with snow tire. I would simply change them out myself with the first snow fall.

Without the snow tires, I would end up lying down on the ground, getting the snow out from under the car to get it moving out from the apartment complex parking lot. With the snow tires, I could easily crawl over a foot of snow left behind by the snow plows!

Yes, I had a few too many glasses of wine...cheap wheels and good snow tires! It is amazing what the snow tire can do. But again I have a rule, if there is snow on the ground, my skis are on the car, or I'm outta there....we pay 5X for our homes in California AND loving it!
