These cars are 20 years old. But, a properly maintained z31 will last a very long time and be very reliable. Both of my NAs are extremely reliable. I've left them stock and do proper tune ups and oil changes and they've each got around 200,000 miles on them. The turbo has been modified a little. And as with anything that's modified, you're losing some of the reliability. I ended up blowing a head gasket on it a while back after being stupid with a few things.

Subjective term. And you're going to have to be specific if you're looking at a turbo or an NA.

I gotta agree, with basic maintenance the Z31 is very reliable, but after 20 odd years some parts just wear out and will have to be replaced, as for performance, they are kinda heavy in stock trim even the turbo si a bit weak by todays standards, but it's easy enough and well enough documented to make them perform with more moders cars on abudget, common problems, check AZ_Zbum's site he's got it all documented

Congrats on the purchase! But remember, an NA Z31 is a far cry from high performance.
