Totally wrong? You just said what i said except put more value in the sensor than you should. IT'S NOT A VITAL SENSOR. If it was, it would cause the engine to go into limp mode or at least throw a check engine light if it was removed.I said it will store a code, i just said that it won't throw the light.and loosing a bit of power is all that it will do.How do you know you might ask? I have a car i drive around with a bad knock sensor and haven't fixed it because the stupid sensor is expensive.DaBlkSupaMn wrote:woah! thats totally wrong... what the knock sensor is supposed to do is retard the timing when it notices a knock in order to get rid of it... it can retard it up to 12 degrees. it will only NOT throw a code if it senses a knock and it does its job of retarding the timing... but if it is bad.. like mine is now, it WILL throw a code... 34 or 35 one of those two... i would recommend replacing that as it is a vital sensor... ALL sensors were put there for a reason
