How will a e-manage work with only a MAP sensor?

How hard is it to just get rid of the MAFS and only use a MAP sensor? Is it a good choice to switch. If so a chart that would get me close for 7.25psi on a T3 would be helpfull.

I'm using a e-manage blue on a SOHC with 395cc injectors. I have higher HP goals soon to come and I want to use a open BOV.

You still need the MAFS when you use the EM MAP. IT just uses the map to adjust on boost instead of using TP percentage. You do want to use it though

The Ultimate allows you to do this.

but the MAF meters faster than a map sensor and you can tell the volume of the air and not just the pressure, at least thats what ive been told

i believe only e manage ultimate allows you to eliminate the maf which is good if you have your setup finalized. B/c as far as i know if you go map only you have to retune if you decide to up the turbo boost or change a cam, or any work to that nature.

A correctly built MAP system does NOT require retuning every time you change boost or anything else. The problem is that many people who convert from MAF to MAP fail to add an IAT (Intake Air Temp) sensor, nor does their programming method provide the factoring information for the IAT. The only way to correctly calculate air density using a MAP is to also use IAT. Without the IAT variable, the MAP means nothing as to the amount of air molecules present at a given absolute pressure.

If your car is equipped with a MAF and you must run open BOV, I would recommend this:

Run the MAF on the cold pipe as a blow-thru setup. Not only does this give better throttle response and allow the open BOV, but it also gives a much more accurate reading of the air going into the engine. This will provide for a much more efficient tune.

Mount the BOV on the hot pipe. Now, when the BOV opens, the amount of air flowing backward through the MAF is minimal and there's virtually no air being purged that was already metered.

Map based or "speed-density" ecus require an iat, not even an option to run without unless the temperature is somehow hardcoded (or resistor installed in iat input). Something like this would only operate properly at one temperature, obviously.

Speed density is tuned in reference to volumnetric efficiency (ve), if your just "raising your boost" you do not need to retune necessarily, but only if the higher boost portions of the ve map have been tuned previously. If working with an aftermarket ecu that you are personally set up for your car, chances are the higher boost portions (which are higher percent of ve, 100%+) have not been tuned and you will have to do so.

I am currently installing an Emanage Ultimate in Chris's 91 coupe... I have yet to figure out if you can do a full speed density conversion... There are dedicated inputs for AIT so this would leave me to believe that you might be able to convert to speed density although there are no specific directions to do so (that I have seen so far)

In the next couple of weeks, I will have more information on this system...
