Hey everyone, i wanted some opinions.... and like a holes you all have them, so let me know what you think.

how wide should i make my widebody, i am going for an aggressive style moulded wide rear, made from some donor coupe q-panels.My vert is lowered, have an average snow plow style front bumper and side skirts.. and keeping the 4 lug as long as possible since i have the brakes upgraded and don't wanna flush that money without getting some use out of it, probably going to use spacers until i find the right wheels for the right price.

i can make it as wide as imaginable.. but don't want to go too wide that i need custom one off wheels(not at that baller of status!), or too narrow that it doesn't do the work/aggressive style justice, or look goofy.

i don't plan on doing wide front fenders.. but plans always change.

looking for some technical, style, and preference opinions on it..i do paint/body so i consider myself a good eye for auto style, but new to the 240 scene so i ask of the masses as an effin new guy :dblthumb:

Technical - chances are what every wheels you have or are getting won't fill the new fenders enough to make it look good. With that being said, stay conservative and go with like a 30mm fender if you do it.

Style - Coke bottle look with an aggressive snow plow kit is whats up. 30mm front and 50mm rear fenders make it look right. Also, the car has to be unreasonably low to really drop panties.

Preference - See my style comment.

Final Advice - Don't do it, unless you're going to do it right. I would say get someone who is really good with a fender roller to actually pull your fenders if you want a flared look. You can still cheap out on wheels, add a spacer and it'll be decent.

wow, thought i would get more feedback on a general, technical or preference question.. maybe some haters, some for it, some reasons why to go certain widths or why not.. but thanks timless for your input.. i plan on doing it right and not re-doing it later because i didn't know about something like wheel fitment or suspension issues, etc. that someone might bring up

So is there a FAQ or something already posted on how much certain width/offset's stick out over stock?
like a 9.5" wheel with +38, ?
and what will fit up front with only rolling the fender and not flaring?

i guess i don't have to worry about letting my secret body ideas out since no one is reading, lol. SO here is the plan, having a vent/scoop rear wide body, im going to start at the door and cut the skin/jamb to come IN starting about 18" past door edge of the door to 1/2" by the end of the door( about an inch below the top of door to the bottom body line where the stripe is), and then 1- 1.5" at the deepest point towards the end of the scoop on q-panel

and then coming outward(wide body aspect) will be the coupe q-panel with the one main scoop, coming over where i cut the q-panel making it appear that much more out(looks like 70mm when only 50, etc. depending on how wide it really is).

And the end of the wide body will be a curved top to bottom drop off of width. The bumper is a body kit bumper chopped and cut to fit more like a roll pan(doesnt protrude out more then an inch past tail lights)

SO that's the idea the best i can explain without pictures, and i don't feel like scanning my writeups, hopefully to spark some conversation on wide body stuff. thanks for any input or info,
-Ben

your not the only crazy. we are building a complete new boby for a hatch s13. it was designed by me and a art design student and looks like a modern rendition of a 240 with a little ferrari meets aston martin meets tuner car. i like your idea if done correctly
