how wide of a tire on a 16x6.5

i bought some cheap '91 skyline gts rims 16x6.5

what size tire can i put on it, im not lowered yet. so i was thinking 205/55/16

but was wondering if i could fit a 215 or wider tire on them

yeah dont go any bigger than a 205. a 215 would fit, but it would look stupid, and hurt handling.

Hey a quick afterthought:some people have mentioned that 225/50-16 can go onto the wheel, which it can, but is not optimized.You've got the right idea by sticking with the 205/55-16 as it is a perfect match to OEM overall diameter and is the intended size for the 6.5" width.BTW, very sticky competition rubber is available in 205/55-16. This is the size I use with R compound Toyo's
