How Wide can I go on stock SL wheels?

I know some have bought 195 but how would 205 or 215 be? Any help would be appreciated, gonna buy new tires soon and definitely want to go wider without buying new wheels.

195 would be the widest I'd go. Its a 5.5 inch wheel, don't push it.

I asked the same question at a DiscountTyre store and they told me I can put a 205/60 x 15. Waiting for the Contis to quit working - I have 25k on them are are still good, so it seems like I have to wait....

If you look at tire specs, it'll tell you the recommended or range of rim widths each tire will fit on.

From memory, I think it's 205/55 or 205/50 so you stay within range to your speedometer being accurate.

Never seen a 205 on a 5.5 inch wheel. Does that really work?

The closest size to stock in a 205 width is a 205/60-15. It's only .9% larger a 205/55 is 2.7% smaller. I didn't even look at 205/50 for obvious reasons. Whether or not a 205 will work on a 5.5" rim is entirely dependent on the brand of tire. Some manufacturers will say it's okay and others will say you need at least a 6" rim. 205 is stretching the limits of a 5.5" rim I wouldn't even consider a 215

I'll be buying 205/60r15 Pirelli P4 Four Seasons here in the next couple of weeks. I let you know how they turn out.
