Ouch.....that was a low blow right there. As long as my boys stay out of this, I'm happy though.

mine was ok i guess. first, my car broke down, then i had to move into a studio from a 2 bedroom on Tuesday, didnt have internet for like a whole damn month. (that explains why i havent been on NICO) then came to find out that one of my professors is a racist. and couldnt fix my car yet, so i still have to get rides from friends who arent too reliable, which led to ALOT of absenses this week and last week.....

ok ok, that was just a little venting. hehe..

Why is your prof a racist? I just somehow find that hard to believe, or maybe I've just been sheltered?

well the fact that she is very ignorant when it comes to Asian cultures and kept asking this japanese girl all kinds of questions like "so u guys eat octupus and squid raw right?" and then made that "face"... and the fact that she calls us Asians "Orientals".... ii dont know, maybe it's just me, but we are not rugs, we are not an isle in the grocery store, we are Asians.

Well, my answer would have been "I dont know. I'm thai and I grew up in southern Illinois. But I heard those crazy Japanese eat some strange stuff..."

JUST KIDDING!

I find it odd that the word oriental has a negative connotation wrapped around it... "of, relating to, or constituting the biogeographic region that includes Asia south and southeast of the Himalayas and the Malay Archipelago west of Wallace's line"

Seems like a harmless adjective to me. Though Webster's dictionary also notes that it is "sometimes offensive". I guess it depends on how you use it and how some abused it.

I would have laughed it off and told the professor I had a samurai sword and watched anime.
