Right now on my Q for winter im running a set of firestone firehawk all season tires for winter use... They did me OK last year, never got stuck or anything, but thinking of upgrading to winter tires...... Grip has never been a concern of mine in the Q and I intend on it staying that way.

I think id like to get some studded tires, mainly because I can!! THe loudness doesnt bother me, but whatever...

My main concern is driving on these things on the highway.... I know that when you drive on them when it gets warm it can damage them.... Id say there will be times where it could be 50F, maybe even 60F (very unlikely) where id have to drive on the highway with these tires on...

is there any sort of industry standard that tells how warm is too warm for a snow tire??? or does it vary by what tires you get????

It was in the mid 50's for a couple of days here and I'm running studded snow tires right now.

I've been running some sort of studded snow tire for years w/o any sort of detriment.

I checked temps and pressures when it was mid 50's the other day after being on the highway for an hour and they were barely even warm to the touch.

Unless you think you're gonna do some sort of racing on them, (you'd better not) they should be fine.

and FYI, I run mine from sometime in November to sometime in March.

Right now I have some decent all seasons that did me fine last year. i think instead of going with snow tires this year, since i wont really be using it in the snow much (or at least I wont HAVE to, as i dont drive on a daily basis) ill just stick with my all seasons and if it gets bad toss 2-3 50lb bags of salt or sand in there.....
