I have heard that they are bullet proof, then i hear that the ring lands are absolute garbage past 400whp.

i had 525whp on my sr, but it was built. i dont want to have to go through that again so as of now, im debating.

im selling my s13, as i just bought an s14. this will be the donor car. im wanting to push 500+whp out of it.

so as of now im still kinda leanging towards a 2jz, but my roomate says thats sacreligion, and we will end up coming to blows if i do that

what are your guys thoughts for big power without building the bottom again?

i wouldnt push it past 450-500whpyou might be okay up to that range, depending on the condition of your motor, how hard you push it, etc

^^What he said^^

Tuning makes all the difference but for all intensive purposes, you're not going to see more than 500 hp on stock internals for very long. The rings (top ring specifically) and ring lands are the weak link.

Again, it's all about tuning. Obviously, StricNyne was tuned very poorly to break ring lands at that low of boost. He must have been knocking harder than the big bad wolf. There was probably something else amiss because 10 psi is nothing on these motors.

from what I see the aussie boys don't like much over 20psi on stock block, that seems to be the point of HG failure do to the crap head head bolts streching from the pressure. Thus blown HG. After that who knows.. no one has done studs then put the head back on, and at least gave information about it.

Well its what I did, ARP studs, stock block, new OEM HG. So I'll be finding out when the ringlands fail. Im guessing mid 20's is where they wont like it. I shall see.

seems to two of the very well tuned rb25's that were pushing 500whp plus where fine until they added NOS, then around the 600whp mark both blew ringlands.

Anytime with this its ALL about the tune. **** tune = blown block, good tune.. could last a good deal of time.

The instructions are in Japanese, but the measurements are in numbers. Your machinist should be able to read it perfectly fine.

i had great afrs and mediocre timing advance at best and my ring lands let go at 20 psi... take it for what you want, I think less boost is in my near future if I dont rebuild
