Ok so I finally got my 96 Altima fan for my 91 240sx ka24de. I have read the directions on the install page and prefer to wire it to fuel pump since I need it to be on at all times because I live in Arizona. Do I need any special switches, thermostat, or anything? Also I noticed that there are 4 wires coming out of each fan. blue (power I think), black (ground), yellow(?), and green(?). What do I have to do with these extra two wires and does anyone know what exactly they are for?

FIgure out which fan is the AC condensor fan on the altima and wire it to the aux fan on the 240, then for the other fan on the altima you hard wire it with a new relay and fuse. Have it switched byt the ground for the fuel pump relay.

I have a crude fan wiring relay in my photo gallery in members ride. Its basically how to wire up a fan with no existing wiring using a blue relay and some wiring along with a fuse and fuse socket.

I can't find the pics in the gallery. Do you know of any other pics I can go by. As far as the wiring goes, do I neeed to buy a relay switch or can I hook up a fan wire straight to the fuel pump power wire?

or alternatly here

Both circuits are home made and dont reffer to factory circuits

Cool diagrahm! In the second pic, did you put a fuse in there from an altima?

I never built either of those circuits on a car. I just made the circuits for another member to wire up electric fans in luie of using the mechanical fan. As far as the circuit goes, the only nissan part I emphasize you use is a blue 4 terminal relay as the pin #'s will match up to that specific relay. As far as the fuse goes you can buy one of those aftermarket fuse carriers from alocal auto parts store and use a regular 30 amp buss fuse. the rest is rolled generic wire, some lugs, a connecotor cut to match the connector on the fan[solidered and sealed to the generic wiring of course]

is it possible to wire one fan to the fuel pump (so it comes on when the car does) and the other to the existing wires from the existing fan (so the second turns on when the car starts getting hot)

Yes thats what was stated earlier in the thread. You want to use the condensor fan connector to wire up the secondary fan. That fan comes on in 2 instances. When ever the airconditioning is on and when the engine gets excessivly hot. I will say though if the other fan is running constantly the condensor fan should never come on due to excessive heat unless you have a cooling system problem.

yeah i wasnt sure if thats what that post meant or not, but thats amazing that just one of those fans will keep it cool enough, im going to use my condensor fan alone then and just swap it around when i change the rusted rad... my friend did it and hasnt had any problems, but i also drive alot more than him, so we will see what happens. thanks again

You can not just run your car alone on its original condensor fan. That fan is designed to be used in conjunction with the original mechanical fan. The airflow from that fan by itself is not enough for complete cooling. You need to use a larger or higher volume flowing fan with a shroud that helps pull the airflow from the front of the radiator. But if you switch fans you need to either have it regulated so it will come on when coolant temp in the head reaches ~190 degrees or have it run constant. Do not hook up the solo fan so it will come on when the current condensor fan comes on due to engine temp. That is to high and not good for the engine long term.

Found the same colors on my altima as on my maxima's fans.

black/white - not sure what this doesblue - highgreen - lowyellow - ground

I was a bit surprised by the use of yellow as the ground instead of the black, but might wanna hook it up to a battery to double check it for your fans.
