I have a new G37S with navigation package. I know how to use the navigation and telephone systems but I can't find any reference to voice command for the audio and interior climate controls. Can anyone provide guidance on how to change radio channels and temperature controls via voice commands?

One side note... I heard the newer build g35 and g37's don't support those last few commands. I am not sure what the cut off date is, but my car was an early build G37 and it does support those, but I read posts on other forums saying that those commands don't work.

What do you mean you can't find any reference?

You have an owner's manual, right? Look on page 4-80.

The nav system will list them and say them, and they're listed in the section of the manual to which I previously referred.

IMHO - the voice commands for the audio and temperature settings aren't that useful. It's quicker just to use the temp knobs or the steering wheel controls.

No, smark, you're wrong. In Service Bulletin ITB07-042, titled 2008 G35, G37, QX56; Infiniti Voice Recognition System Update, it clearly states that direct tuning frequencies and direct temperature settings were deleted in G37s manufactured after August 30, 2007 (after Vin #JNKCV64E(*)8M 106576).

The newer system has a simplified "Standard Mode" (which is the default mode) and an "Alternate Command Mode for the more advanced user. Some vehicles built prior to the above listed VIN may have had the newer system installed at the Port. To confirm that the vehicle has the newer system, select "Setting>Others>Voice Recognition" and see if the option for "Alternate Command Mode" is present.

No, parrot, I'm not wrong unless his owner's manual doesn't have a list of easily found voice commands or if his on-board system help doesn't list the voice commands. If it doesn't list specific commands, then they're not available.

Also, there is a voice recognition owner's manual supplement available at infiniti.com.

The audio and temperature commands work in my G37S. The commands are listed in the nav system and my build date is October 2007.

Not in mine... What's worst is that Infiniti eliminated the extra voice commands without even notifying the consumers who had ordered the vehicles. The dealership wasn't even aware that the commands were no longer available. And Infiniti has not done squat to compensate for the false presentation....

Grrr I am soo disappointed in Infiniti .

Yeh,,,quite disappointed. I plan to call Nissan Cust Care Monday. Please do the same.I am unable to find ant position on this for Nissan. Some speculate the expanded set was cut back to simplify ( for some users!).My position is that my test drive car had these features. I few weeks later, my delivered car was disabled...misrepresentation!Oh...in the Owners Manual...Canadian vehicles have the full set. Maybe the Canucks are smarter?

Old topic, but I will chime in anyway

When I test drove G's they all had the full set of commands, when I picked up my new G37 last month (12/07 build) I found out later it was the new dumb version. My owner's manual lists all the commands, including the ones that do not work.

Has anyone had any success getting Infiniti to reprogram their cars back with the full set?

Pretty lame with all the stuff they removed and all the stuff that does not work while you are moving.

I have to admit my disappointment in Infiniti here as well. I just got my new G37 and love it ... but it is disheartening to read the manual and see all the great audible commands available to the Canadians that aren't available to those of us stateside. While the radio controls and temp controls would go unused by me, it is very frustrating to not be able to make phone calls through the bluetooth interface with a simple two-word command sequence ("Phonebook XXXX") like the Canadian models can. Instead, the newer U.S. makes have to go through three separate prompt levels to accomplish the same thing -- and that's in the "Alternate Command Mode" with "Voice Feedback Minimized." Pretty stupid. I can't for the life of me figure out why they'd make that change to the system -- it had to be legally driven. Wish I could force a retro-grade.

Some of the stuff now takes more commands and not less, which means it takes long and is more distracting than the old version - it would appear.

Give me a waiver to sign and put mine back the way it was - and unlock all those functions that quit working while you are moving as well.

I asked the service manager at my local Infiniti dealer about reprogramming my car with the full set of commands and was told it wasn't possible.
