New 07 M35X owner.

Does anyone know exactly how to use the AUX jacks behind the center console of the M35X to play iPod music? I can't seem to figure it out.

there is an adapter you can buy at Radio shack/walmart/apple store, which plugs into the headphone jack of your ipod and the sound plugs in the console. (Walmart had the adapter for $5). On my steering wheel there is a "source" button that will switch to the AUX setting. Play with the volumes and enjoy.

If you are wanting to play video, there is another adapter for that which costs a ton more, but you lose video when you start driving.

Unless you've done the DVD hack.

I bought an attachment at the Apple store that plugs into the ipod proprietary interface (not the audio jack) and outputs video and L/R audio. This has a line level output so makes the sound volume better i think. It is pricey. Cost 49.95.

To get to Aux, I had to select the the "Source" till the display showed DVD. To the left and bollom of this should be a button labeled "Aux". I had to arrow over to this and select it and then change from DVD to Aux in one of the menu items. Now, the DVD is defaulted to Aux.

I don't understand what you mean by ipod proprietary interface. I have an 07 M35x and I haven't seen this interface but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

Let me know where this interface is, I don't mind buying the equipment from the apple store. (please share). Thanks

the proprietary interface he was referring to is on the Ipod. He means the part you connect to your computer with on the Ipod.

This cable will work if you just want sound (you can get the same type thing at walmart for $5):http://store.apple.com/us/prod...cxNzI

Something like this if you want video (I don't think you need the USB part of this, but you get the idea):http://store.apple.com/us/prod...M1MTU

Plug either of these into the AUX jacks in the back of the center console (in the back seat). Once you plug in use the source button on the steering wheel to select AUX source. Enjoy your music.

Hope this clarifies.

Yes-Sorry, it is the proprietary interface on the ipod. The link that you provided to the iPod store is exaclty what i got. The USB interface is used to charge your ipod. That is, if you get a cigarette lighter adaptor with a USB interface, you can plug the USB i/f on the ipod cable into it so it will charge your ipod as you drive as well.Bob
