Do you know your code?
If not, check in your glove box with the owner's manual and other documentation. There should be two very small metal plates on a keyring. One is the reference number for the master key (Nissan can cut you a new key using this even if you loose all your keys). The other is the reference number for the car's master entry code. A dealer should be able to tell you the code if you provide them with this number. If you can't find the number plates, you may still be able to get your code from a dealer by providing your VIN. You might need to contact the same dealer that originally sold your car for this, though.
To use the keypad, just press the start button ("ST" on the far left) then enter the code. Putting in just the code unlocks all the doors. Putting in the code and then 1/2 unlocks the doors and opens the trunk. The code and 5/6 unlocks the doors and rolls down the front windows until you release the 5/6 button. And pressing JUST 9/0 (no code needed) will lock all the doors.
And the code is the ONLY way to disable the alarm/vehicle immobilization system. If your car's alarm is set off, the ignition system will be locked out. You have to put in the code to shut off the alarm so you can start the car.
