My mother has 08 Nissan Pathfinder and I went got nitrogen put in the tires cause it was free and of course the low pressure light came on no big deal but I was wondering how do you shut warning light off?

Thanks,Blake

Put air in the tires.

In all seriousness, why would the pressure gauge behave differently with Nitrogen. The pressure should be the same. If anything, it should be more stable.

Cause nitrogen lighter then air there for it sets off low tire pressure light. It happen in my car. What I do is hold reset button and it goes away I just don't no how to do it in the pathfinder . How do you reset it?

Unless u have another code aside from low air pressure. If tire monitor light does not go away after driving it & making sure all tire pressures are above 29 psi, u need to retrieved what are the codes, u need a scantool to get it. Probably u have a bad tire sensor.

When I click on the screen to see what pressure is it says I think 32 or more cant exact remember . I also did Google search and came upon old thread here saying the cold can do that and that makes since cause the low tire turn on and off . I was just trying to find a way to turn it off so does not keep coming on and off . O and the car just click over 5,000 miles so cant imagen the sensor bad.

Air is about 79% Nitrogen and 21% Oxygen with some trace amounts of CO2and Argon, and some REALLY trace amounts of other stuff.

The atomic number of Nitrogen is 7. The atomic number of oxygen is 8. Sothe "atomic number" of air is .79*7 + .21*8 = 7.21. The density of gases (atsane pressures) is proportional to the atomic number. So the density of nitrogen is 7/7.21 = 97% that of air. That won't float a balloon.

Since air is mostly nitrogen and nitrogen and oxygen are pretty close, thething about better heat conduction doesn't fly either.

And bmlawless is mostly right: it's the pressure that counts to the sensor, not the density. However Nitrogen won't be any more stable in pressurethan air, or even pure O2 (unless the high O2 content touches off a fire ;-)For these sensible gases at sensible pressures, they behave as ideal gasses. Now, when you start to get up over 3000 PSI, things become less ideal, butin the real world, that's about filling SCUBA tanks with exotic gas mixtures.

Google "ideal gas law".

This whole nitrogen in your tires thing is complete baloney.

Try to set the tire pressures to 36 psi just to make sure & drive the vehicle.tire light comes on when pressure is below 29 psi, depends on how accurate is ur tire gauge is, u must be just at the boundary line when cold.
