yea i posted this question on a previous tread but it died before my question got answered so here it is... my ebrake is at about a 90 degree angle now and its barely holding in my driveway its at the complete max i cant pull it any higher, my brakes are find all the way around new calipers, rotors and brake pads (not even 1k miles on them). i need to know how to tighten it... i was informed that there is a cable that needs to be tightened but how do you get to the cable? and how long does it take and what tools are neccessary? i dont want to go through the trouble of doing it myself but all the shops around me are full of dumbasses who dont know what they are talking about so im pretty much forced. can anyone help?

Do not tighten the cable as a first-fix. Take of your rear wheels, there should be a little rubber plug on the drum, take that out and rotate the wheel till the hole is at the bottom and you should be able to see a "star" wheel through the hole. With a flat blade screw driver, rotate the star wheel upward to expand the shoe position outwards until the shoe makes contact with the braking surface. After the starwheel cannot be turned anymore, back it off downwards 3-5 clicks.

when you say rotate upwards and downwards is that counter clockwise and clockwise? counter clockwise being upward and clockwise being downward?

The star-wheel is in the vertical position, the edge of it will be facing you when you take the rubber plug out. So upwards is upwards and downwards is downwards.

Its inside the rear disc brakes. The rear disc brakes are like a combination of disc and drum. The inner part of the brake is like a drum brake, which is where the handbrake is located.

This shouldn't be neccesary. The drum ebrakes are auto-adjusting. Have to yank the handle in reverse or something... I don't remember exactly what. Read the FSM.

On the Z32 it is necessary to adjust the handle height.

On the Z32, the handbrake is not self-adjusting.
tt.net faq wrote:Usually the shoes need adjusting to make up for wear; there is no self adjustment mechanism as with conventional drums.

You can actually adjust that nut if you undo the snap on the e-brake handle boot and use a long expension without taking the console apart.
