I'm getting a deal on a so called 2006 nismo 350z manual transmission that is going to be used in my vkz32 swap. My question is, as stated above, how can i tell if its really a nismo 350z transmission?

Nope, just recovering from New Year celebrations. ;)

Seriously though, there's a link WAY down in the lower left hand corner of the screen that says "View Unanswered Posts", which I check from time to time...but if you reply to your own post your post won't show up there anymore.

But to answer your question...

I'm curious as to why the owner refers to it as a "NISMO transmission". There is no NISMO transmission in the Nissan Motorsports Competion Parts Catalog", there are a few transmission and drivetrain parts, but no actual transmission. I suppose it could have one or a few NISMO parts like the clutch plate ($270-300'ish), clutch cover ($300-325'ish) and/or flywheel ($500-600'ish) but those are all some nice parts for a transmission that's being sold.

My money says it's a transmission that was removed from one of the various NISMO tagged 350Zs. And it's no different than any of the other transmissions. What you do want to look for is a transmission from 2005 and on as they won't suffer from the notchy 2nd to 3rd gear upshift that plague some of the early 350's, at least as early in their lifespan anyway.

There simply is no 'nismo' transmission, even the nismo variant shares the same transmission as the other Z trims
