easiest way would probably be to find out if its obd1 or obd2.

after that, the sticker on the door does tell you what year the car was made, I believe....

is this a serious question

ummm the title perhaps? provided your buying a car with a title (which is the smart way to go)

97-98 will be a "real" kouki but it might be the 20th front end on it, might be an R-title from all the dorifto kids no of days smashing them into trees

If your not a retard you know what pics to ask for, and things to be checked. I have never had trouble buying a car that I did not look at in person. I bought an FC from washington state, and a 69 camaro from florida.

VIN + Carfax is a good start. But you do take a risk when you cannot actually look at the car yourself.

Srs Answer.

Look At The Gauge Cluster. The Zenki Cluster Has The 2 Circles Over Lapping, The Kouki Has Them Apart.

Yea Someone If They Wanted To Could Swap It.But It's Not Plug And Play, You Would Have To Slice And Connect Some Wire.Which Most People Fell It's Not Worth It, So They Just Leave The Zenki Cluster.

Man, so much misinformation for such a simple question. I'm glad the question actually got answered.
