how to tell if motor is s14 or s15 sr20det

like the title say ,i would like to find out how to tell the difference in between s14 sr20det and the s15 sr20det......

Primarily you can tell by what trans is attached to it (assuming no one's yanked it off.) The S15s get a 6 speed. And their speed sensor is located in the diff carrier.

Other than that, visually they look identical. I know the injector plugs on the S15 sit on a sub harness and there's no ignitor chip, but I'm not sure if that's the same or different on an S14

S14 injectors should be purple, S15 should be red, brown or something inbetween the two colors. S14 has an igniter chip while the S15 has the power transistors built into each individual coilpack.

S14 AC compressors should have a part number that reads 92600-65F** or 92600-80F**. S15 AC Compressors should have a part number that reads 92600-85F**.

S14 Alternators should have a part number that reads 23100-65F**.S15 Alternators should have a part number that reads 23100-85F**.
