I have a 2008 G35 that I've owned for four years, and have yet to figure this out. I hope it's not too dumb of a question.

I have my headlights set to "Auto" mode by default. How, when I'm driving in inclement weather or at dusk, can I tell whether my headlights are on our not? I'm referring to conditions where it's not especially dark, but it would be a good idea or (in the case of rain) legally required to have lights on. I'd like to know whether I need to override the Auto setting and manually turn on the headlights.

What's got me perplexed is that I don't see a traditional headlight indicator in the dash.

Thanks for giving me a clue, or confirming that it really is as hard to make this determination as I think it is. :-)

When the headlights come on the interior dash dims (gauge cluster and screen). There is no indicator other than high beams.

On my 2012 G37S I have a green LED on the cluster for both the headlights and fog lights.
I never use the "auto" function. I'd rather turn the headlights on when it starts to get dark or in bad weather and turn them off before getting out of my vehicle. There is an audible reminder if one forgets to turn them off.

Thanks folks for confirming I'm not missing anything. So, I either need to discern the dimming of the instrument panel, or switch to manual mode. It's odd that Infiniti didn't include a more explicit indicator, but sounds like they fixed it by 2012.

The q50 has green lights as well for headlight and foglights but not my G37, thus, the '08 G35 sedan would not have them either.
