going to be purchasing a JDM VG30 engine soon and the thought occured to me how do you actually know if the engine is actually a JDM engine? Years ago when I bought one for my 87 Hardbody i knew it was because the fuel injection that was on the new engine was not available on any Nissan car or truck sold in the US, that and that it had a belt driven fan meaning it was out of a rear wheel drive vehicle and at the time there were only a few vehicles Nissan sold in the US that had a V6 and were rear wheel drive. But the engines I see for sale now have the same fuel injection and manifold setups that US engines have, so is there a specific engine model number that let's you know the JDM engine is a JDM engine? I just read as far as with Honda engines for example the B16a1 is a US engine but the JDM version would just say B16.

Thanks

There should be an engine code on the block that the dealer can look up. Look in the service manual to see exactly where that code is located on the engine: http://Nicoclub.com/FSM

I have the FSM already for this truck and multiple others and don't see anywhere in it where it shows where the model number is, anyone have any idea where the engine ID number is located on the engine?
