I've got a 95 240sx, trying to fix the interior which was previously painted red. I need to know how to take off the part around my gauges (that houses the dimmer), the trim for the map pockets in the door panels, the speaker covers in the doors, and finally the vents in the doors. Thanks.

First you download the FSM.

Second, you take off the steering column cover using these things called screws and removing them with this other thing called a long Phillips head screwdriver

Third you are supposed to invert yourself in your seat and struggle around with a flashlight and curse till the other screws you cant find screw themselves out.

^ not really, but you will find them if you just tug a little on the panel once the steering column cover is off.

So... steering column cover off (the one that goes around signal and wiper arms) then there are some screws that hold that bezel on, other than the ones going up into the dash from inside the ring?

How do I get off the piece that goes around the map pocket and the one that houses the A/C vents on the door panel?

You need to remove some of the trim that goes between the carpet and the piece you are trying to get off. All the other screws are located there.

The main door panel I believe is suppposed to "pop" off with a screwdriver (starting at the top where the window squeegie is), but you need to be really careful. IIRC, the other pieces mounted to the main door panel are screwed in from the other side or glued and you have to take off the whole thing to get at them. Write back if there are any problems, Im kinda hazy on it.

S13's are soooo much easier. But I had to take off my steering wheel and drop the steering column a little to get mine out. The FSM looks like it will be similar to get that piece out for you...

Yeah, S13 parts are easy... especially the shift boot. I'm not sure which piece I'd need to pull the carpet up a little to get out is, I haven't run into that yet.

I did get the gauge bezel out by only taking off the steering column's top cover, I didn't have to drop the column or take out the bottom panel.

All that is left is the door panels. Just start pulling gently, and they should pop out? The door handles (that house the window buttons) are already out, so that won't be holding it back. I tried taking out the small dish that is around the handle you pull to open the door from the inside, the screw comes out, but the dish will not.

Pry gently?

Pry gently, Upward, then away from the window starting with the squeege area at the top. There are hooks that keep that top part on, so it will have to be first on the list if you want to get the panel off. Most cars are the same this way.

Then the little pop tabs will be able to come off. The pop tabs are all around the outside circumfrence of the panel ~4 inches in and you can feel them with your fingers if you carfully bend the panel back. Watch out, the plastic crap breaks pretty easily

So there will be a lip near the window squeege that the door panel kind of hooks over?
