Pull the starter off, have someone hold a large flathead in the teeth of the flex plate and hold it solid. Then take the pulley off. I havent personally used this method on a Z, but I have used this to pull the harmonic balancer on old V8s. So it should work for the Z as well.

^^^^^^This method will work on any car.

If you dont have a second person around, you can always take an old AC belt have it just go around the crank pulley and AC pulley, not the compressor. Start to tighten as you turn the crank, the belt will eventually tighten enough around the pulley to make it now turn. You can also use it to tighten it as well. The belt will be trash, but it worked flawlessly for me since I never had a second pair of hands.

Could work, I've done it on SBF and SBC motors without problems. Not sure if anyones ever tried it on a Z

Yeah that should work without a problem, just make sure the AC idler pulley is tightened down so it can't go anywhere. You WILL need a break bar for the crank bolt. I would do something similar to this if you don't have an air compressor and impact wrench, but if you do then that's all you need.

Breaker bar is a must for a few things on these cars.
