I just got a new cluster for my s14 and i need some help on taking out and installing the cluster. I searched and i found and idea of how to take it out. But i am not too good with mechanical stuff, so i am wondering if anyone can give me more detailed directions on swapping the gauge cluster.

sorry for being a nooob >_<!

thanx in advance for the help..!

well i took mine out tonight again to try something with the needles (which didnt work by the way)simple1. take off the plastic piece that covers the steering column (i believe it is 6 screws)2. take off the gauge cluster trim ( 2 screws)3. take out the gauge cluster(3 screws)4.unplug the plugs in the back(4 i believe)5. put it back together.

now here is a questionanybody know how to remove the needles without messing something up. i want to try and make the needles green instead of red. i tried tonight to use a sharpie marker on the outside of the needle but it didnt work. i think what i have to do is scratch off the red layer (which is on the back of the needle) and then make it a color of my choice. i wish i had a spare cluster to try it on, but i dont.

Is it really that easy? I spent like an hour trying to pull the cluster on my s13 until I finally just cut the stupid trim out...I'll just glue it back together when I put it back in.

You're suppose to drop the steering column. I made the same mistake. With a little wrestling I got the trim out but couldn't get it back in. friend says '' drop the column'' trim went back in two seconds. got to take off the knee protecter plate first ( w/ the light in it). good luck!!!

yah, the gauge cluster on the s14 is pretty easy to get out. . . the only thing that can be a pain is unplugging the defroster and cruise control switches from the front panel (you have to reach around and unplug them since the wires are too short to get at anything behind the panel). . . beyond that, it's pretty straight-forward. . . i can get my cluster out in a couple of minutes without trying too hard. ..

Hmmm, I put the column all the way down...maybe there's something I'm missing. Oh well, that's what epoxy and black paint is for.
