HOW TO SPEND YOU FIRST 1K-2K ON MODS (street, drift, track)

It has come the day when I get to chose how will I spend my money on my car. as It once happened to many of you, and Will happen to many of you.Today I'm going to ask the community what would you spend your first 1k-2k on mods in a pretty basic stock 240sx (89-94)(mine's 91)

(if you want to mention bigger upgrades, and go over 2-4k is fine, but dont abuse it)

Some people have SR'S, SOME KA'S and In my case, I have an SR.I think we should talk about both freely, but of course it'd be more helpful talking about SR'S.

Some people go for looksSome people prefer to waste it on bishez :PSome people go for performance.

If I've forgotten about something you may speak your mind.I'll try to update pretty often.

I have an sr20det with

greedy exhaustkoyo radiatorblitz bov stage 1 suspension (not the stock, but a cheap perfomance suspension)sway bar for the back

thats itthe rest is stock.

What you should do is replace anything thats worn. General upkeep, Like fluids, plugs, fixing any leaks, brakes ect ect.

If you have all that covered then you could go with Intake,Exhaust, FMIC, Short shifter, and BOV.

well thats a very important point assassin.gotta have everything working properly.I've thought of it and will definitely. do it.I was kind of expecting to hear fun upgrades, or stuff like that.I understand the seriousness of having everything working all right, and its priority 1, but after p1, whats next?

My first $1k went toward Arias pistons, Eagle Rods, a Cometic HG, and a full ARP set. Course, it cost a little more to make them all fit together.

I'd upgrade the fuel system and tune for more hp/torque. Of course you also need a FMIC don't you?

It all falls under what your main goals are with the car. Saying I want to daily a 650whp SR with super stiff coil-overs isn't realistic so don't lie to you're self.

What kind of power are you shooting for, How stiff you would want the ride. There are so many factors that come into play.

I have a stock SOHC, but my first expenditure went to wheels, tires, and suspension. Street, track, or drift, I think traction is the first priority.

ok assasinIts true that, pretty much to each his own.but I'm wondering what do you guys do, what do you guys prefere.not what I prefere.I can take my own choices and stuff, I'm just looking around on whats good, convinient, smart, etc. sometimes, ppl mention stuff i didnt think about, like you did just before, saying about the worn parts.thats pretty good thinking right there.

I wasn't gonna do it until I realized so, and You reminded me.

and I play to make the car pretty stuff, buying lots of mods for body, suspension.

I plan to get nice wheels and suspension first.but I'm not sure yet.

Im also missing a sohc, safc, and other things.

What i have done is replaced everything that was leaking, I had some bad exhaust and boost leaks to deal with. Also my subframe bushings were shot so that got replaced also. Once i had everything from that order finished up i have started moving to body. I just replaced my core support and am getting ready to convert the front end and finish the paint. After that its RAS, build the head with tomei and tune. Then finally wheels and tires.

after the basic renewal I did fmic, exhaust(turbo-back) rims tires. next big thing is brakes. also did coilovers

buy an ls1 swap kit from daft innovations, and prepare the chassis for something it really deserves.... an Ls1 not some weak *** 4 banger.

hey guys if i start to rev my car up to around 6k it makes a squelching noise. Kinda similar to a belt rubbing.. do u think its the timing chain guides? Cause i haven't taken em off yet.

i would buy coil overs first, and then look for a diff, the two most important things for a 240.

as for upgrades, i would go simple suspension agx and teins s-techs are pretty popular, lsd, then give your car the once over and make sure everything is A-oki went the agx and tein route myself then got full ebay exhaust and test pipe for 140 shipped!(best sound ever). leave out bodywork until the car is running flawlessly..just my 2 cents
