How to replace license plate lights - 05 Altima?

I got some LEDs that I'd like to try them with the license plate. I was told the bulb can be accessed from the inside of the trunk lid? I can feel something when I pull down the carpet from the trunk lid, but I can't see anything so I don't know how to pull that housing out? Or can I pop the clear plastic off from the outside to access the bulb?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is for an 05 Altima.
