The parts holding the lid of my center console are broken, so I believe I need to replace the entire console.

Any suggestions as to how I should do this? I'm thinking I have three choices:

- 3rd party/universal replacement (will suck because it'll look and probably function like crap)
- OEM new replacement (too expensive likely)
- used replacement (likely best, suggestions as to how to source?)

Also, any urls pointing to how to disassemble would be helpful.

Thanks!

- Sean (San Jose, CA)

Sean - Welcome to NICO.

The good news is there are now many G50 (90-96) model Q45s available in salvage yards. Also, in the classified seciton of the NICO forum there are some members parting out various models. I have found the "pull it yourself" type salvage yards sell trim items at very reasonable prices.

What color is your Q's interior? There might be a member who knows of a similar car that is being parted out.

Also, if you haven't already seen it, visit www.Q45.org and browse the information that is available for G50 owners.

Cheers,
Craig

Thanks OCS!

Interior's black (black on black... looks good - when clean! - but not a combination I'm likely to choose again unless I'm in a cold weather area!)

When you say center console, you're talking about the center arm rest, hinges, and lock?

There is a black 94/95 model near me. I know the front seats and A pillar covers have been harvested. I believe someone cut the clock out of the dash -- though it could have been a different car.

Soon I need to hit that yard soon to pick up a mud flap for the Maxima. I'll check to see what remains from the console. It may be a few days before I can get to that yard as it is raining heavily here now and the yard is in a low lying area. Recent foot surgery is keeping me from being able to wear a boot -- so I'll need to wait until it dries there out enough to wear this cast like shoe into the yard..

At this particular yard, trim items are priced for pocket change so really it is the cost of shipping if I find one and I can remove it without damaging it..

Meanwhile another member might have one for sale.

Nice! Yeah, I'd be down for that! Hit me up a day or two before you go back out to verify I haven't bought else where (I doubt it). What do you think it'd cost?

PS - I might just need the hinges in all honesty. I should take a picture or look a bit closer (car's @ home, I'm @ work) to double check.

Check it out.. I hope to go there before the weekend is over.. I do know that the locks are usually broken for the armrest on any 94 or 95 I have seen in a yard. However, I think the hinges may be good. Where are you located?

Also, some other members may have a better or easier solution..
