Could anyone provide advice on replacing the BCM on a 1994 Q45?I removed the panel under the steering column and can see the BCM, but it seems impossible to get to. Does the entire DASH have to be removed? My power door locks do not work at all and the center consul window switches are likewise not working. I figured it might be the BCM, but does anyone have any other ideas?

did you at least do the self diagnosis for the BCM outlined in the service manual? Ive NEVER heard of a BCM going out on a Q. not to say its not possible but id suspect other things before replacing the BCM.

Thanks. I will try. I have the FSM. Could you tell me what page I can find it in the manual? I couldn't find it.

I was working on the BCM on my 1996 Q45 recently. If it is in the same spot you do not need to take out the dash. It is held in by two bolts or nuts that you can reach. The cable also is held in by a bolt. I think that once I undid the two that held the box itself in I unfolded the cable and unit down and then undid the bolt holding the cable on. Good Luck.

Elwesso,

I tried the Mode III trouble diagnosis for Power door lock operation and received error codes 2, 3, & 4 indicating a problem with the Front RH, Rear RH and Rear LH lock motor circuits. It did not indicate an error with the front LH door lock, and in fact that door lock was activated by the diagnostic program. Do you think that maybe the problem is with the Local Control Units (LCU) as opposed to the BCM?

Just wanted to let everyone know that I replaced the three Local Control Units (LCU's) on the Right Front and Rear Left and Right doors and now all my windows and door locks are working fine. I got the units from [email protected] who lists in classified section. So there was no need to replace the BCM. Thanks for everyone's help.
