I just bought a Datsun 260z and am taking the whole car apart for a complete restoration. I got very luck and found a Z with almost no rust at all! Im in the prosess of striping it down to bare metal because its got a 1000 coats of paint on it! So i figured I might as well take care of the rust that it dose have and renforce the frame a wee bit! Since its going to have a 350 horse power small block ford engine in it, I think it might need to be renforced! How can i go about renforcing the under side of the frame? It will have a full roll cage in it soon too, which will add some support threwout the car also. But my biggest concurnes are: frame rails (engine bay and under side), sway bar mounts, and rear end. Any ideas or photos would be great.
Thanks alot for your time,
Nick

Thanks alot for the info! Im thinking of getting the rear portion. But Im still going to need aditional support to keep this motor from twisting this Z up like a tin can! Im looking to add more steel to the frame rails from the tension control rod buckets back to the rear portion of the bad dog conectors.
Thanks alot for your time and reading my post,
Nick

350 hp is certainly a lto to handle in these cars but not enough to warrant excessive reinforcement and added bracing, 350s also is within the ability of the stock R180 to handle, the r200 is a common upgrade and it's much easier to find a limited slip and cv axle upgrade is also a good idea when adding power

that being said, if you intend to to much racing wiht the car thats when the stiffening comes in handy, and there are a few diffeent schools fo thought, a weld in cage will go a long way to stiffening the chassis done right, beyond the cage

stitch welding can add a suprizing amount of rigidity to the chassis without changing or effecting the use of the car

pdk fabrication makes a strut tower bar that ties into the frame rail above the sway bar mount as well s the firewall

Bad dog makes beefier longer 2 piece frame rails that also serve as subframe connectors, your car beig a 260 I'm not sure if you'll need the over the stock rail type or the rail replacement type

sem people add box tubing to the inner rockers, somereplace the stock rails with full boxed steel and others make their own sub frame connectors
