i guess i am the only help. i am one of the only one that has change mine. if you want i will take a picture of it in the morning.

here are the following shift knob that will work.

Sparco Globe X. ( the one i am using)Sparco Fast X.Momo Race Evo w/ Reverse up.Razo GT advance (Very similar to stock, but it doesnt look as good.)

(i work for a performance shop, so i test fitted a lot of differnt knobs from, MOMO, Sparco, And Razo.)

Ok how to remove it. This was not an easy task, since your dog already chewed it up, grab a dremmal, and start cutting the knob off. THIS IS THE EASIEST WAY.

The only thing holding the knob onto the shift knob is a TIGHT FIT. if you are able to get something that will slowly pull the knob straight off the shift it will work. It is not screwed in, or glued in. The end of the shifter has those cut grip like a file on it. (I will try to take a pictures so you can see what i mean) and the plastic is basely tightly fitted round it.

You can also try taking the knob apart peice by peices. The top part where the 1-6 can come off. then you can remove the rubber/vynal cover off the plastic knob. Then the last part it to put up with all your might to remove it from the shifter.

if Someone else figure out a faster/easier way to keep the knob, please do tell, i just end up hacking my off with a cutting wheel.

I looked in the service manual, and it did not say anything about actually removing it, but where I was told to go to remove it, this is what it said . . .

"SHIFT CONTROL PFP:32982Inspection UCS0065H Check contact surface and sliding surface of fork rod and shiftfork for wear, damage, and bend. Replace if necessary."

What does that have to do with removing it???

Sorry I could not be of help, but seems as though Lude has the best input thus far!!! lol

one thing to note, i cut away the plastic around the boot, so that when i puill the revese up it doesnt catch on anything on the new shift knob. since i cant put a stock on back on, it makes it look cleaner IMHO.
