How to remove the back panneling on back hatch

Does anyone know how to remove the back hatch pannel on a 2000 qx4?

I dont see any screws and I'm thinking there are just clips but don't wanna mess it up, thinking of putting 2 6x9's flush on the back hatch.

look for the handle in the middle of the panel

pull off the 2 plastic clips (like rectangular covers) on the ends of the handle, under those covers, unscrew the phillips screws holding the handle on, pull handle off the rest of the entire panel is plastic clips, so just gently pull the panel at the edges until they all free up. Some of the clips might stay in the metal of the door rather than in the panel, so when youre done pulling, just pull the clips out of the metal and put them in the panel before reinstalling. Youll see what i mean when you get there.

Great description fueler, I'm not sure if this is the same but for my 01 you have to open the glass in order to remove the plastic after the screws have been removed.

No problem G, If youre gonna put those speakers, you might wanna do some sound deadening back there while you're at it, The QX4 actually has factory sound deadening in the rear quarter panels but not in the rear hatch. I used dynamat extreme. Thats how i know how to remove that back panel!

Thanks, you are absolutely correct spec v, i forgot about that Ill be taking that back panel out and always realize last minute that the window needs to be open You need to pop open the back window or the panel wont come off because of the window latch, you can save that step for last to make things easier
