I've always wondered how to remove the G50 armrest. I asked around but no one ever seemed to know for sure. Well, I was spending quality time in the junkyard today so I attacked a seat just for the knowledge. See, I've been hoarding up leather scavenged from sacrificial Q's until I can recover my driver's seat.

Anyway, the process is real easy. You remove the back of the seat and there inside the seat-back on the right, is the shaft for the armrest. It's held in place by a 14mm nut.

And just where were you when I need help??? Joke... good post man. Excellent illustration.

Okay, I'll add another observation. The Q45 dash is covered with 100% leather. That's why you'll rarely see one in bad shape. The leather can be ripped off in a huge piece then used to recover such items as dash trim that goes around radios etc. I'd say get a professional to do it though, unless you are very adept at these things. Before applying, you can treat the leather nap on the underside with a softener to keep it nice and pliable for years to come.

Every upholsterer will tell you that the real cost is in the material (leather). Let him state his price first, then ask him to break it down into material cost + labor. Wait a day or two, then tell him you got the material. Of course he may up the labor a bit, but it won't be as bad as if you showed up with leather in hand.

I was completely wrong about this... the dash is not covered in leather, just high quality vinyl. I ripped the cover off one.
