I feel stupid for asking this, partially because I probably am but I am trying to remove the inner tie rod ends, from what I can gather from the FSM I have to remove the dust covers, bend the 4 sides of the little lock plate back so i can fit a wrench on the end of the inner tie rod and put another wrench over the part of the steering rack and just unscrew the tie rod out from the rack? Ive tried this with a good amount of pressure but the inside part of the steering rack was moving around lots and I didn't want to mess anything up? Am I doing it right, just need to give 'er more s***? Maybe need new rack bushings as well?

you'll need a u-joint to pop out the rods from the knuckle. After that, you'll need a wrench to remove the bottom of the tie rod. Just remember when you're doing that though, you'll need to count turns as you'll need that number to get it close to where you started.

theres locktight on the threads inside the rack so it is going to be difficult to break it loose. you need to have a wrench on both peices to hold one still while loosening.

Yes that is what I was doing and i was pushing pretty hard but didn't really go balls out because i wasn't 100% sure if I was doing it right. Now I know I was, thanks.

I just got done swapping in some Tein Tie-Rods last week. Like NISTECH said, you will need to put some force into. I smashed my hand in to the car but I got that bastard to start to unthread. I don't know about another wrench, it wasnt necessary for actually removing the *inner* tie-rod. To each their own I suppose.

Good luck.
