I'm trying to remove the carpet trim on the glove compartment of my s13, and having peeled it off, there's a layer of fuzz still attached by fabric glue. Does anyone know a good solvent or stripper that will take the glue off without damaging the plastic underneath?

Goo-gone or any other citrus based solvent generally does a good job.

Autozone has a metal can with a green wrapper, labeled Prep-All. Works on adhesives, tar, bugs, all sorts of stuff. for adhesives, i just dampen a rag or papertowel with it and blot it on the area. Let it sit for a minute or two then start rubbing it off with the same rag. Then you finish it up with dry cloth rubbing whatevers left off. Works great on fiberglass and plastic. I've used it to remove tar on my car, but working fast just cause i'm paranoid to screw up the top coat, even though it says its fine. also don't smoke while using it.

Hmm... I checked with the closest autozone and another auto accessory store, and neither has prep-all. Do they have a website or anything like that so I can get it online?

goo gone . goo off . all that is overrated garbage.. i spend a LOT of time at home depot , auto zone, etc. i am told to go with a prep all.. there is something called tcp i think at home depot. this is a very good surface prep. just look for anything that removes grime , greae and wax and that has petroleum distillers in it. use gloves by the way.. i have an irritation on my hand that wont go away .. i dunno could be the haze..

well, didn't find prep-all at home depot (you let me down, Silvia! )

I got a can of this motsenbockers lift-off stuff that says its made for adhesives, so I guess I'll give it a try. Kinda iffy though cuz it has a warning that it might damage plastics...

Yeah I was all over the paint section, and asked the clerks there as well. They hadn't even heard of the stuff... Maybe they just don't distribute in my area, seeing as I can't find it at both autozone AND home depot...

Oh well, I'll give the stuff I got a try and we'll see how it goes.

whelp, tried that lift off stuff, and WD-40, both containing petrol distillates, and didn't even really make a dent in it...

I'm just gonna sand the whole thing down I think...
