The mirror bezel and part of the housing broke off my 2008 black Altima. I figure I need to obtain the entire unit from a dealer and I'd like to do the replacement myself. Can anyone tell me what's involved? I can't imagine it's too difficult.

Thanks,Walt

Get in your car.Roll down your window if you are doing this by yourself so you can hold the mirror to prevent it from falling and scratching your car when you are removing it later on.Remove or loosen the interior door panel by removing the trim screw towards the front of the panel and pulling gently to unhook the clips. Try not to break them or they may end up rattling around while you drive.Remove the triangle interior mirror cover by pulling out gently, it is held in by a clip.Remove the old mirror using the appropriate wrench or socket.Installation is reverse of removal.10-15 minutes tops.

If you purchase a new mirror assembly from Nissan it will come with the glass already on the bezel and the skull cap you just need to snap onto the outside of the bezel. The skull cap comes unpainted so you may want to leave it off until you get it painted. That way you can just give the shop the cap and not worry about overspray on your mirror.

If you have a 2.5 it might be cheaper for you to find another 2.5er with the same color that has upgraded to 3.5 mirrors and buy from them.
