Not the way I wanted to start the day – I managed to lightly clip a pillar in the parking lot (damnit!) this morning. From what I see there's no denting, and the scratches don't go past the coat of paint. I could rub some off with my fingers, but that's it. Can anyone give me tips on how to clean it up? I've never really dealt with this type of work before so instructions would be much appreciated.

I found this video with the exact problem, but they use their own branded products. What are some good equivalents I can pick up at the local stores?

Hit is with some rubbing compound and finish it up with some polishing compound. If the paint isn't scratched it should take out most of it off. A buffer would take out a lot of the arm work. If there is a good detail or body shop in town, it wouldn't be a bad idea to see what they would charge to hit it with a quick buff with an air or electric buffer. Cheapest way would be to run to advance or Autozone or "Jimmys" auto parts or even Walmart and pick up some rubbing and polishing compound. Turtle Wax, Meguiar's...they all make it. Youtube removing paint transfer with rubbing compound, I'm sure there are 50,000 video's on there. Good luck!
