thats awesome

and it looks like a little bit of machining could relocate the shifter an inch or so forward, and make it invisible from the cars interior.

see how the shifter attaches, its a U joint and shaft that connects to the transmission. shortening the shaft would move it forward, then a new "V" bracket to hold it in place.... moving it close to the stock location == win

yeah, it doesnt look like you have to move it much for it to fit properly. from the pictures though it looks like it is sitting closer to the e-brake than center. do my eyes decieve me?

still, pretty awesome. i dont know if i am man enough to take on a task like that though. i havnt broken a s13 box yet but mine is starting to sound a tad bit uh... "worn in"

definatly going to do this rather than the BMW transmission for the next engine build -

already have a CA giken twin plate - and i saw a z32 5 speed for $500 on egay .... just some not-too-difficult fabbing == win

definatly wont need it for the current engine tho

overboosted may, if he hits that 600 whp goal he wants (let us know how it goes )

Yea, I think it does look like it's not centered. Hmmm

look at the bracket in the pic outside the car, its definatly sitting closer to the LH side.

but not so much that it would look really weird in teh stock hole if you were to move it forward a bit

I can really see doing this in the future for the next engine build (saving the instructions for posterity)

that e46 6spd feels like a million bucks though. for all this trouble though, ive found the OS Giken gearset for a scant $1200, which might be the laziest option.

I sold my original gearbox for $500 and bought the Z32 transmission for $600Machining and Welding $200And now I have a transmission managing around 1000hps

The offset of the stick is because of the original position on the Z32. It is possible to move the stick forwards but I dont mind. When the stick boot is mounted you hardly notice the offset and shifting is 100% more solid than with the original gearbox.

And the best part of it is that my S13 Ca18det OS Giken twin plate clutch fit like a glove.

so on yours, it still fits in the stock shifter hole, and works fine no hitting the side?

another idea - the possibility to use an automatic transmission as a donor for the 40mm of CA adapter......

from an automatic s12 shoul work too (the hamster started running in teh wheel again)
