Anyone recommend any guide located online? The dealer wants $500 bucks labor and $30 bucks parts. I have been thinking of just doing it myself on the weekend. I have the "Clintons Nissan 240SX Tech Book" also in hand.

I know I have to drop the transmission, etc but this will be my first time doing such.

Thanks

You take off the trans, then the flywheel and clutch. It is a little housing that looks like arched door with a big hole in the middle where the main seal is. There are 6 little 10 MM or 12 MM bolts to take out and then you get the old seal out and put the new one in. Getting the seal in and out is difficult because it's metal with rubber around it. I cut mine with a razor to get it out but putting it in was a little different. I just put the seal in place and put it on the ground and stepped on it until the seal fell in. A rubber mallet works too. It sounds like a big job, which is it if you dont know what you are doing, otherwise it's easy the hardest part will be gettin the trans in and out.

What do you think, should I do it myself or just pay the $500 (quoted so it could be alot more) bucks for the shop to do it? I have moderate install experience such as springs/shocks and literally have the whole Saturday.

With such a valuable resource as NICO I'm sure you can get through it It's just nuts and bolts, man. Some of the ones on the upper part of the bell housing are a bit of a pain to get to with the motor in the car, but with the right combinatin of curse words they come out eventually. Unless you're really gung-ho, you might need another set of hands to manage then transmission, especially putting it back on. You will also need a clutch alignment tool if you don't already have one, but they are only a couple bucks at any parts store. Between following the FSM and getting help from NICO, you should be able to do this on your own. Anyways good luck.
