I know how to read wiring diagrams, but the headlight switch is confusing the heck out of me. Can anyone tell me what the A B C columns are for.

I understand the off 1 and 2 are the position of the switch, but the subcategory of A B C is really giving me problems.

Thanks................

i forget but i think it is high beams

b would be neutral. a high beam

go to point 3 and there is a link on how to clean the switch contacts

there are also detailed wiring diagrams in the fsm somewhere.

I'm not having problems, I'm trying to wire in a different switch for my drift car. I am required to have headlights at the track I go to and I have no room on my modified steering column to mount the stock switch. I don't need high beams, just running lights and headlights.

Thanks for the links though, I do have some wiring diagrams, but not all of them.

If you want just the low beams, put in a switch somewhere that will handle the current needed for the lights. Then all you need is a switch that will supply power to the low beam circuit for the lights. The Green/Yellow and Green/Blue circuits are the low beam circuits on their respective bulbs. Nissan gives dedicated power sources to each light, I'm not sure if you care enough to do that, but it wouldn't hurt.

If you need them to pop up as well, you can put in a seperate switch to raise them. The purple and the brown wires are the dedicated circuit in the factory setup. Purple supplies the switch, and brown goes to the motors.

Thanks for the help. I'm gonna run relays so that i can just use one switch to pop them up and turn them on. I actually got a dash mounted switch from a Camaro I'm going to use. I just needed to figure out exactly which wires I needed to power when.

Going into the factory switch plug, Nissan used the R and R/W wires to power the lights. One supplied high/low to one side and the other supplied the other side.

A relay sounds like a very good idea. I would use a dedicated power source for the pop ups. The motors can draw a good amount of current, so if you use an occupied power source, it can give you issues.

Also, I'm not sure if you'll need the headlamp timing unit installed or not. I think you should be ok, but it is something to think about if they don't actuate with just the power circuit powered.

basically what I'm going to do is cut the plug that goes into the switch and wire my relays right there with a dedicated switched power source so even if I forget to turn off the lights, they will shut off. I will retain everything the way it came from the factory except the switch itself. I'll retain the timing unit and all of that fun circuitry that Nissan over engineered.
