I did a search on this but nothing came up, so I just wanted to ask you guys/gals, if you've done this, how would I raise the rear of my hood. I was thinking of using thick washers to lift up the mounting points. any ideas?

*oh wait - nvrmind I found a post - thx anyways

LOL...I keep seeing this red 240 everyday...the rear hatch is off and to the side and so is the hood, it's under a garage type thingy...do you all think I could buy it and fix any probs or would it cost a lot? I don't know much bout restoring cars that seem to be in that condition

I found that an easy way to lift the back of the hood a little is to spin on an on-ramp in the rain and nose into the wall...:-P

^that will definately do the trick, but might cut down on the aerodynamics of the car

i know this is an dead subject... but im tring the hood thing with washers... i also tried searching.... i got the washers on... new bolts on... good stuff. but the hood wont raise all the way with out scrashing the top part of the quarterpanell.... my question is your you place the washers where the hinge meets the hood or where the hinge meets the body?

is this right or am i doing totally backward?

lol, that's mad high... i too try to search for that other member who posted what hardware he used to the 'T', but to no avail...

from what i've recalled, he put some plastic bag over it to show how it does force cooler air thru the engine bay... as well as using a thermometer to put up some actual numbers...

dam, my searching skills suck.

no seriously i have searched too, to avoid the flaming from people... cuz i know this is a pretty simple mod (havent been flamed yet and dont want to) but the only thing i have come out of searching was 1) longer bolts 2) washers... thats it... i was talking to a friend with an s13 who has done it and he said to "bow" the hood... have people push from the sides, and bend the hood....... he said it worked for him... i really dont feel like bending my hood just yet...

right now the hood shuts perfect, its a nice fit... just i cant pop the hood open all the way... we went out sliding tonight and no spike in the temp... worked pretty well for the first test run... now their is some place for the air to go through...

umm looking at that pic, you might want to check something. on the side of the hinge that mount to the car, there is a hook like catch that slots into part of the hood. its purpose is to prevent the hood from decapitating ppl in a crash. if u raise it too much, it wont catch. something to think about.however, since its built onto the hinge, putting spacer between the other side of the hinge and the car itself, rather than next to the hood, might be a better idea.-Enzo

this is a dead topic but ive found that puttin washer inbetween the hing and the car work alot better, plus they are alot eaiser to put on.

I used longer bolts, and 8 washers on the back bolts, 6 on the fronts. It's perfect, doesn't rub when opening yet creates a bit of an air gap across the back. I cant tell if it really helps cooling, but I am MAD TYTE yo.l
