I responded in your other post with a picture... you will need to custom mod this in there... I would

1. buy the storage box that comes with the navi system that has the opening for the 6 disc changer

2. buy the rear and side brackets for that storage box

3. get a custom shop to custom fiberglass your housing into that area... if you have a full sized 7" in dash system.. it may or may not completely fit in there due to the way the mounting brackets work behine the storage box... I used a single din dvd player w/ 4.3" monitor, and mine fits fine!

I'm interested in this too but I have doubts about the dimensions.

You said you're single din fits in there without modding the opening for the cd changer? Would it be too much to get the dimensions of the space above the 12v socket cover? I was wondering what the largest could be that would fit or if I got a motorized flip out if that would work as well. What do you think?

actually, even with the single din, I had to make some modifications as the factory cd changer that goes down there is smaller than a normal single din opening...

you will NOT be able to get a flip down in there... the screen wouldn't be ab;e to flip up due to the space and angles required for viewing... the storage box is recessed too much

also, sinfle din is the largest you'd get in there above the power socket!

so, if I wanted to put a 7inch touch screen in there it would be best to just mod the storage box that I already have? If that doesn't work do you have any other ideas? make a new box????

I would love to put a 7inch in there over the single din .... but you do what you can plus or minus some creativity =)

Maybe you can clarify some of the modding you did? I find that behind the storage box the clips or clipholders get in the way. a din is 7 inches wide and 2/4 inches high, so that the clips on the bottom and near the top of the slot where the storage box fits in prevents a din sized object from going in ....

When I looked at mine I found the top clips have a screw that's holding something else, so I can't cut those, but the bottom clips are just plastic holes that could theoretically be cut out .... though I'm not looking forward to modding the car in a way that's that permanent.

Any suggestions or ideas?

I am new to the Forums and dont really know how this works. I just purchased the same in-dash you have. What mods did you have to do? I also have XM adapter, steering wheel adapter and Rear Camera. Any guidance would help.

Thanks

what model do you have exactly? and where are you putting it? This thread is about putting it underneath your radio/dvd for a second in-dash installation.

This is what i got Kenwood DNX8120 DVD Navigation Receiver, with all the other components, XM, and steering wheel adapter. I want to install it where my old/stock radio is now.

Thanks for the help

Ah, that's another thread then. This one is for installing it below the stock radio. You'd probably get a faster response by either posting a new thread or looking up some old ones that cover that topic. It's fairly common.

On the other hand, I built a custom trim/case for the second indash HU. It doesn't look pretty yet but I have to trim it down and it "should" work okay. Unfortunately to get the 7 inch HU in I had to cut some plastic from the car =(
