you need to specify...OBD1 or 2 S14's came in both. Also, maybe let us know what problem you are having.

the only way I have found is through the consult port--- above the fuse box requires software and a computer. the ecu in the car does not have a redlight or screw to pull codes.

Well we just got my sr motor running. It runs fine. Has good compression across the bored. But at idle it runs realy really rich once the car reaches operating temperature and smokes but its black so I know its gas. Any ideas what would cause that?

What are the ECU differences between the 97-98 SR and the 95-96 notchtop? I know there are ECU differences I just don't know what they are? I thought it was the changes in emissions equipment.

Ya it idles perfectly and runs great. My compression was 160 on all four. Its just running really rreally rich at idle for some reason. And I was hoping that maybe I could find a way to check for codes.

So what would cause the motor to smoke due to being rich when the thermostat opens up?

And some one has to know where a diagram is for checking codes?

if i remember correctly this is how i did it. the ecu itself has a dial on the side (flat head) you need to turn on the ignition and turn that dial full clockwise (mark the original starting point so you put it back when done) and wait until you see the check engine light in the dash starting to flash meaning it has entered diagnostic mode. after you see it flashing you turn the dial back to counter clockwise to the original position. it will flash in sequence of slow then fast; ie. flash...flash, flash, flash, flash (2 slow 3 fast) this would be code 23. when all finished turn ignition off and it will return to normal mode.
